An introduction to self-defense, this stand-alone weekend workshop will explore the basics of awareness, assessment, and options for deflecting, diffusing, disengaging, or defending oneself invulnerable or dangerous situations. The short course will include an overview of physical and psychological techniques

for dealing with an unarmed attacker,as well as an introduction to falling, boundary setting, situational

awareness, effective strikes, and deflection.

This stand-alone weekend workshop can serve as an introduction to our full 4-week self-defense course,

scheduled for February 2020.

Ea Murphy, Chief Instructor Tacoma Aikikai has over 20 years of martia larts experience. She has taught

self-defense both on and off the mat, including with the Girl Army, a Bay Area Self-Defense collective.
